Penegakan Hukum terhadap Tindak Pidana Perusakan Hutan di Sektor Ekosistem Gambut di Kecamatan Pinggir Kabupaten Bengkalis
Forest destruction in Indonesia is an ongoing problem, as our forests are being destroyed by human activities such as illegal logging, land encroachment, and forest fires. As a result of this forest destruction, many plant and animal species are threatened with extinction because they lose their homes and food sources. In addition, forest destruction also has an impact on the global climate because forests play an important role in absorbing carbon dioxide from the air. The forest area located in Pinggir Sub-district, Bengkalis Regency, which is in the spotlight is the Peat Forest. Because there are people who are not responsible for forest destruction by deliberately draining peatlands, which should be wet to dry, for personal gain. This study aims to determine the enforcement of criminal law against peat forest destruction, and analyse the obstacles that occur in the enforcement of environmental criminal law in the Peat Ecosystem Sector in Pinggir District, Bengkalis Regency. The approach method used in this research is empirical juridical. Researchers use analytical descriptive specifications. The data sources in this research are primary data consisting of interviews, observations and secondary data consisting of primary, secondary and tertiary legal materials. This research method is library research and field research. The data that has been obtained will be presented in a qualitative method. The results of this study indicate that forestry criminal law enforcement in Indonesia from the efforts of the government and all elements of law enforcement officials to protect and manage natural resources is quite effective. Obstacles that occur in forestry criminal law enforcement, namely, the difficulty of identifying suspects due to the limited number of witnesses and locations that are difficult to reach, lack of personnel and inadequate means of transportation to locations that are still difficult to access. Efforts that can be made to improve coordination, capacity, and evaluation with related parties.
