Karakterisasi Patogen Penyebab Penyakit Hawar Daun Bakteri Pada Tanaman Eucalyptus Pellita F. Muell dan Respons Ketahanan Inang
The objective of this research is to identify and analyze the diversity of pathogens causing bacterial leaf blight in Eucalyptus pellita, evaluate the bacterial leaf blight isolates to find the most virulent isolates and assess the resistance response of E. pellita clones to bacterial leaf blight based on artificial inoculation results. The research was conducted in the industrial forest plantation (HTI) areas and in the Plant Pathology Laboratory, Plant Protection Division, R&D, Asia Pulp & Paper Forestry, Perawang, Riau. The research was carried out for 6 months, from June to December 2023. This research consists of 4 research stages, namely 1) collection of isolates from various regions; 2) characterization of the collected isolates; 3) molecular identification of selected isolates using gyrB primers; and 4) resistance testing of several E. pellita clones against bacterial leaf blight using selected isolates. The study showed that all selected isolates had morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics similar to bacteria of the genus Xanthomonas. The virulence test identified isolate RIXN038 as the most virulent. The evaluation of clone resistance to bacterial leaf blight revealed four levels of resistance: resistant, moderate, susceptible, and highly susceptible. Molecular identification using gyrB primers indicated that the bacterium causing bacterial leaf blight in E. pellita is Xanthomonas euvesicatoria.
