Indonesia has many traditional knowledge products, one of which is in the form of crafts. Craft products can be used as containers for traditional ceremonies and souvenirs which have typical Riau Malay characteristics at this time and have quite good market prospects, considering that the need for Riau Malay container products and souvenirs is very high. However, the Riau Provincial Government has not made any efforts to provide a forum for improving MSMEs. Of course, if the government provides a development platform for business actors, it can bring commercial value, one of which is Tanjak Riau which is already registered. The problem of this research is how is the legal protection of communal intellectual property rights for traditional craft products produced by micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in Riau Province, and what are the obstacles in the legal protection of communal intellectual property rights for traditional craft products produced by micro, small and medium enterprises? Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Riau Province. The research method, namely sociological or empirical legal research, is research on legal identification and legal effectiveness in social dynamics, while its nature is descriptive. The results of the research are that the legal protection of communal intellectual property rights for traditional craft products produced by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Riau Province is still not running optimally due to the lack of promotion of the use and development of traditional craft products and the government's lack of providing a place for traditional craft products so that known by the entire community both from within Riau Province and from outside and the lack of awareness and knowledge about the benefits and economic value attached to communal intellectual property has resulted in traditional craft products being registered only being Tanja, and Obstacles in the legal protection of communal intellectual property rights to products Traditional crafts produced by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) In Riau Province, there is a lack of knowledge from local government employees regarding communal intellectual property rights so that many unregistered traditional craft products have been produced by micro, small and medium MSME entrepreneurs, which are not well coordinated. to the relevant agencies to develop these traditional craft products as well as the limited budget for carrying out promotions and providing promotional venues.
