Soil is one of the media that is used with a function as a foundation, both the foundation as the foundation of a building and road pavement. Soil has a function to continue the forces acting on it. Palm fiber ash is a processed product from palm fiber waste which is burned to ashes and passes through filter No.#200. This soil improvement was carried out to determine the effect of mixing added ingredients in the form of palm fiber ash in clay soil on the shear strength and free compressive strength. This research was carried out using the laboratory experiment method in which testing was carried out using the shear strength test method with the UU triaxial test type and the UCS-free compressive strength test method. This study used a mixed composition on test specimens with a percentage of 12%, 15% and 18% with curing times of 0 days, 4 days and 7 days. The results of the shear strength test from this test showed an increase in the percentage of the mixture of 12%, 15% and 18% with a curing time of 0 days and 7 days. While at 4 days ripening, the percentage increased at 12% and 15%, but at the percentage decreased at 18%. The highest shear strength value is found in the percentage of 18% with a shear strength value of ? = 3.754 kg/cm2, cohesion c = 1° during 7 days of curing. The results of the free compressive strength test from this test showed an increase in curing time of 4 days and 7 days. The highest q_u value was found in the percentage of 18% mixture with 7 days of curing time. At 4 days of curing time there was an increase in each variation of the mixture. While at 0 days ripening, there was a decrease in the percentage of 15% mixture. This proves that using palm fiber ash as a stabilizing agent has an effect on the value of shear strength and free compressive strength of clay.
