The aim of this study was to determine the interaction effect as well as the main effect of firewood charcoal and NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer on the growth and production of red chili plants. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City, for 4 months from August to November 2022. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. The first factor was wood charcoal (A), consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 25, 50 and 75 grams per polybag. The second factor was the dose of NPK 16:16:16 (N), consisting of 4 levels namely 0, 2.25, 4.5 and 6.75 grams per polybag. Parameters observed were plant height (cm), flowering age (d.a.p.), number of fruit per plant (fruit), fruit weight per plant (g) and number of fruit infested by fruit flies (fruit). Observational data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. The results of the observations showed that the interaction of firewood charcoal and NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer had a significant effect on the number of fruits per plant and fruit weight per plant. The best treatment combination was wood charcoal 75 g/polybag and NPK 16:16:16 dose of 6.75 g/polybag. The main effect of firewood charcoal was significant on the parameters of plant height, flowering age, number of fruit planted, and fruit weight planted, the best treatment dose was 75 g/polybag. The main effect of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer was significant on plant height, flowering age, number of fruit planted, and fruit weight planted, the best treatment dose was 6.75 g/polybag.
