The development of the Internet and the current era of globalization have various impacts on human life. Not only positive impacts, the internet also has negative impacts such as the number of people who abuse the internet for their own interests to the detriment of others, one of which is hijacking the work of others in this case the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in particular the copyright of cinematographic or film works. A film or cinematographic work is one of the copyrighted works protected by Law No. 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright. But in fact, many other parties are duplicating copyrighted works without permission from the copyright holder, one of which is by illegally disseminating movies through the TikTok application. The main problem in the study is the protection of copyright law for film copyright holders related to the illegal dissemination of films on the tiktok application and the effectiveness of film copyright laws related to the illegal dissemination of films on the tiktok application. This research uses normative juridical methods through document tracing, literature studies and documentation studies, which are analyzed qualitatively. Legal protection regarding copyright holders for copyrighted works in the field of cinematography in Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright has not been maximized in terms of application and enforcement. Film dissemination activities on the TikTok application can be categorized as unlawful acts because they have fulfilled the elements of unlawful acts. As an effort to protect the work, any disputes and/or copyright violations can be resolved through legal procedures. Article 95 of the UUHC explains that the resolution of copyright disputes can be done through alternative dispute resolution, arbitration, or courts. The administration has sought to protect preventive laws to bring down action. For the effectiveness of copyright law, several factors must be fulfilled, namely the law itself, law enforcement, facilities and facilities, public awareness, culture, with the reality that there is the effectiveness of copyright law for the time being is still not running optimally or has not been effective. The government also needs to socialize to the public about the rights owned by the creator or copyright holder in order to create legal awareness in the community.
