Pengaruh Suhu dan Ph dengan Penambahan Inhibitor Kulit Semangka terhadap Laju Korosi pada Pipa Flowline Sumur Migas
Corrosion in the oil and gas industry is a problem that is certain to occur. Flowline pipes are metal-based equipment that can corrode and can cause leaks in the pipe itself. This leak can cause environmental damage because the fluid and gas spread into the open space. One way that can be done to slow down corrosion is by adding corrosion inhibitors. Corrosion inhibitors from watermelon rind extract have been proven to be able to slow down the rate of corrosion in flowline pipes because they contain L-citrulline which can form a thin layer to inhibit the corrosion rate, apart from being an easy-to-obtain material, inhibitors from watermelon peels are also environmentally friendly compared to inhibitors from chemical substances. . This study aims to determine the success of watermelon rind in slowing down the corrosion rate by incorporating various temperature and pH factors. The temperature variations used were 50° C, 70° C, and 90° C while the pH variations were 3, 4, 5, and 6. The method for making watermelon peel extract used the maceration method with the addition of ethanol, to determine the functional groups, the FTIR test was carried out. To calculate the corrosion rate, the weight loss method is used which will be obtained by calculating the weight loss in the sample. The result obtained is that the corrosion rate will increase with increasing temperature and decreasing pH. The highest corrosion rate occurred at 90° C pH 3 (without inhibitor) of 1,18395 mmpy with an inhibition efficiency value of 48.48% and the lowest corrosion rate occurred at 50° pH 6 (with inhibitor) of 0.14351 mmpy with an efficiency value 63.64%
