All activities in the work environment in our country have been regulated in such a way in a regulation which is the operational basis, namely law. Therefore, there is a need for feasibility in worker safety, so that work safety is guaranteed for workers, especially firefighters. In this case, it is still found that the government is not paying attention to dealing with fire disasters that occur around their work areas or for their safety. For example, when carrying out their duties to extinguish fires, an accident occurred which resulted in the death of an officer. The formulation of the problem in this research is how legal protection is for the work safety of firefighters according to law number 1 of 1970 in Pekanbaru City. How are the obstacles and efforts faced regarding legal protection for firefighter work safety according to law number 1 of 1970 in Pekanbaru City. The purpose of this research is to explain the legal protection for firefighter work safety according to law number 1 of 1970 in Pekanbaru city and to explain the obstacles and efforts made regarding legal protection for firefighter work safety according to law number 1 of 1970 in Pekanbaru City. The method in this research is sociological legal research, namely research that uses empirical facts taken from human behavior through interviews or through direct observation. Meanwhile, the nature of this research is descriptive analysis. The results of this research show that there are many obstacles to legal protection for firefighters in Pekanbaru City, namely the lack of personal protective equipment for firefighters in the Pekanbaru City Fire Department, Pekanbaru City firefighters do not receive full health and safety guarantees and there is a lack of awareness among firefighters. fire about the importance of personal protective equipment when carrying out fire fighting duties. And then the obligation to address legal protection for fire fighters based on Law Number 1 of 1970 concerning Work Safety is that the Pekanbaru City Fire Department will pay more attention to the health and readiness of officers by regularly checking their health, providing regular training, and making efforts to equip them with protective equipment required by firefighters, as well as providing first aid for accidents (P3K) and caring for workers who experience work accidents.
