Analisis Penerapan Prinsip-prinsip Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) Terhadap Pengelolaan Free Trade Zone Studi Kasus Kabupaten Karimun

Muhammad Haris Rafally - Personal Name; Roni Sahindra - Personal Name;

The ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) and the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) are two international trade initiatives that aim to boost economic growth through the reduction of trade barriers. AFTA, which was formed by ASEAN member states, aims to create a single market and a competitive production base by lowering tariffs and removing non-tariff barriers in the ASEAN region. This is expected to increase intra-ASEAN trade flows, attract foreign investment, and strengthen regional economic competitiveness. On the other hand, an FTZ is a special geographical area where goods can be imported, stored, processed, and exported without being subject to customs duties or taxes. FTZs are designed to boost international trade by reducing bureaucratic barriers and providing incentives to companies to operate in the region. The benefits of FTZs include increased foreign investment, job creation, technology transfer, and increased economic competitiveness. These two initiatives, although they have different focuses and scales, share the common goal of boosting economic growth through trade and investment liberalization. This study analyzes the concept, implementation, and impact of AFTA and FTZ on regional and global economies. The results of the study show that the success of AFTA and FTZ is greatly influenced by effective government policies, adequate infrastructure, and partnerships between the public and private sectors. Challenges include potential policy abuse, the risk of social injustice, and negative impacts on less competitive domestic industries.
