Combating the criminal act of child molestation is all activities to guarantee and protect children and their rights in order to live, grow, develop, and participate, optimally in accordance with human dignity and dignity, and be protected from violence and discrimination. In this sense it is implied that children are protected from all forms of violence, mistreatment, neglect and exploitation. Law against children in relation to the phenomenon of sexual crimes is protection that is carried out before and after a child becomes a victim of a sexual crime. Legal protection carried out before children become victims of sexual crimes is preventive legal protection. Legal protection carried out after children have already become victims of sexual crimes is a repressive legal protection. Based on the background stated above, the main issues studied are as follows, namely what causes the criminal act of child molestation in Kuantan Taluk and how are the police efforts in tackling child molestation in the Kuantan Taluk Police Area. The type of research that the author did was to use a type of sociological legal research that was limited to research. The method used in this sampling is Accidental Sampling. Accidental Sampling is a sampling technique based on chance, in the sense that the author encountered by chance and can be used as a sample. Based on the results of research conducted by the author, it was obtained that the cause of the criminal act of child molestation in Kuantan Taluk was due to several factors causing dating relationships, misuse of technological developments, lack of parental supervision, and Police efforts in tackling child abuse in the Kuantan Taluk Police Station area are preventive such as handling by first studying the causes of occurrence, negative things, then taking action in the form of eliminating the causes of occurrence.
