Indonesia is a unitary country whose population consists of a diversity of ethnic groups who have different customs, habits, religions and cultures. In this case, the State recognizes customary law communities that live and whose existence is still recognized in accordance with the formulation of Article 18B paragraph (2) and Article 281 paragraph (3) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. Life in indigenous communities is very closely related to kinship and kinship. , it does not rule out the possibility of causing problems related to personal interests in the civil sphere, such as inheritance division issues which often result in family disputes. Within the Chinese community there is a tradition of inheritance. This inheritance law is dynamic following societal developments. In terms of the inheritance system, Chinese society adheres to a patrilineal inheritance system. In this research, there are several legal problem formulations, namely as follows. Firstly, how is inheritance implemented in the Chinese community in the coastal area of Riau Province, Meranti Islands Regency? Second, what are the obstacles in implementing inheritance in the Chinese community for girls in the coastal area of Riau Province, Meranti Islands Regency?. For this research, the researcher used a type of empirical legal research, namely by field observation to obtain a number of data. The data and data sources that the author uses are primary and secondary data, while the data collection techniques that the author uses are observation, interview and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, the method of drawing conclusions that the author uses in this research is the deductive method, namely drawing conclusions from general to specific matters. From the results of research and discussion, what the author found is as follows: First, regarding the implementation of inheritance in the Chinese community in the Coastal Region of Riau Province, Meranti Islands Regency adheres to a Patrilineal system, where male children are given priority or are usually called male heirs. Girls do not inherit, because boys are what can be said to be the next generation. Until now, there are still many Chinese people in the Coastal Area of Riau Province, Meranti Islands Regency who implement Chinese customary rules regarding the distribution of inheritance. But it is also found among the Chinese community in the Coastal Region of Riau Province, Meranti Islands Regency who use the Civil Code in matters of inheritance. Second, the obstacles in implementing inheritance in the Chinese community for girls in the Coastal Region of Riau Province, Meranti Islands Regency are seen from two sides, namely obstacles from the Chinese community and obstacles from the Head of traditional foundations in terms of inheritance distribution.
