This research discusses the legal protection of consumers for buying and selling used clothes (thrift shop or preloved) at the Pekanbaru Kodim market. This research aims to find out whether consumers in buying and selling used clothes have received their rights as consumers in accordance with Law Number 8 of the Year 1999 concerning Consumer Protection and forms of dispute resolution between used clothing sellers (thrift shops or preloved) and consumers if there is hidden damage or defects in goods. The problem formulation in this research is first, what is the legal protection for consumers in buying and selling used clothes (thrift shop or preloved) in the Pekanbaru Kodim market. Second, how are disputes resolved between consumers and used clothing sellers (thrift shops or preloved) at the Pekanbaru Kodim market? For this research, the type of research used includes empirical sociological research (observational research), which is research carried out directly in the field to obtain information and data through respondents. This research was conducted at the Pekanbaru Kodim Market. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation and documentation. The population and sample are the parties related to the overall problem of this research. The data analysis used is a qualitative technique using deductive inference, namely from general to specific. From the results and discussion of the research, the author found that: first, legal protection for consumers in buying and selling used clothes (thrift shop or preloved) in the Pekanbaru Kodim market based on Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection, has clearly violated the law, and is not in accordance with applicable regulatory provisions. Second, resolving disputes between consumers and used clothing sellers (thrift shops or preloved) at the Pekanbaru Kodim market. Respondents prefer to resolve disputes through non-litigation (outside of court).
