This study discusses the prohibition of same-ethnic marriage in the indigenous people of Kenegerian Logas Tanah Darat (Luhak Nan Sambilan). The author's interest in discussing this title is based on a phenomenon that occurs among the people of Kenegerian Logas Tanah Darat (Luhak Nan Sambilan) where there are still perpetrators who violate customary rules regarding same-sex marriage. And the author sets out the discussion within the scope of the causes, consequences of the prohibition of same-tribal marriage and the role of ninik mamak and the indigenous people of Kenegerian Logas Tanah Darat (Luhak Nan Sambilan) in applying sanctions to perpetrators of same-tribal marriage. This study aims to determine the causes, consequences and roles of ninik mamak and indigenous peoples in setting sanctions for perpetrators who carry out same-ethnic marriages in Kenegerian Logas Tanah Darat (Luhak Nan Sambilan). The method used in this study using observation methods, by conducting interviews and questionnaires to the object of research. Respondents who were interviewed in this study were ninik mamak and community leaders. The questionnaire in this study was given to actors of same-ethnic marriage in Kenegerian Logas Tanah Darat (Luhak Nan Sambilan). The results of the research based on a combination of existing data and facts and interviews with several respondents, namely ninik mamak, community leaders and perpetrators of same-ethnic marriage found that same-ethnic marriage will have an impact on family and social life which is less harmonious leading to undesirable things, namely receiving customary sanctions . ethnicity is important for someone who is going to get married/marriage so that later they will not be subject to customary sanctions.
