Eksistensi Dalihan Natolu dalam Perkawinan Adat pada Masyarakat Batak Toba di Wilayah Perantauan (Studi di Kecamatan Dayun Kabupaten Siak)
The marriage law of the Toba Batak traditional community regulates the role of Dalihan Natolu. In a legal marriage, Dalihan Natolu has outlined and established rules and regulations regarding various social relationships, both between husband and wife, between parents and siblings of each bride and groom, each party. The problem that will be discussed in this thesis is the application of the Dalihan Natolu principle in the traditional marriage of the Toba Batak community in Dayun District, as well as the role of Dalihan Natolu in resolving marriage problems of the Toba Batak traditional community in Dayun District, Siak Regency. If we look at the type of method used in this research, the research is classified as observational research, namely a type of research directly at the place or location of the incident, father’s and mother’s relatives, traditional marriage ceremonies. The nature of this research is analytical descriptive, that is, the author tries to provide a complete, detailed and clear picture of the reality regarding the existence of the natolu pretext in traditional marriage in the Batak Toba traditional community in Dayun District, Siak Regency. From the research results, it is known that, in the Batak tribal community in Dayun District, Siak Regency, it is carried out in accordance with Toba Batak traditional marriage law which pays attention to the principle of pretext that marriage is carried out continuously and in stages starting from the proposal ceremony to traditional marriage. Meanwhile, the resolution of marriage problems in the Toba Batak indigenous community in Dayun District, Siak Regency, is resolved using the mediation method, through the element of dalihan natolu which acts as a mediator to mediate in resolving the problems experienced, where peace is prioritized so that problems do not drag on.
