An Analysis Of Teachers’ Strategies In Teaching Speaking Skill To The First Year Students At Sman 1 Bangko
Speaking is the ability to communicate with other people. Therefore, teaching speaking is an important part in the language teaching and teachers need to use some strategies to make the students easily improve speaking and share the idea. To explore the problems, the researcher come to SMAN 1 BANGKO to see the strategies that used by teachers in the classroom. The teachers challenge to make the strategies in assessing speaking skill. The analysis was focused to found out the strategies. This study aims to find the strategies used by teacher in teaching speaking at SMAN 1 BANGKO. Strategy in teaching speaking skill is a way that teacher provide to help students master their speaking skill, and to improve students? communication competence in English. In this study, the researcher focused on analyzing the teacher strategy in teaching speaking at SMAN 1 BANGKO. The research question what are teachers? strategies in teaching speaking skill. In conducting the research, the researcher used qualitative research. Researcher used interview and observation sheets to collect the data. The subject of this research is an English teacher at SMAN 1 BANGKO. The result revealed that the strategies used by teachers were discussion, small group discussion, questioning to check understanding, board games and role play. The impact by used strategy is made the students more active in learning, to improve their speaking skill. Based on observation the researcher found by applying fives strategy, students become more active in and confident in teaching speaking skill based on the material which were given by the teacher and became more active
