A criminal act is an act that is prohibited by a rule of law, and this prohibition is accompanied by sanctions in the form of certain penalties for those who violate it. In the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hukum Police, people often commit the crime of motorbike theft. in committing a criminal act there must be a reason why a person commits a criminal act, therefore this research discusses the factors that cause the criminal act of motorbike theft and what kind of countermeasures are taken by the Indragiri Hulu Police for criminal acts of motorbike theft that occur in their jurisdiction. in order to minimize criminal cases of motorbike theft in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hulu Police. The problem formulation in this research is: First, what are the factors that cause motorbike theft in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hulu Police. Second, how to deal with motorbike theft by the Indragiri Hulu Police. In this research, the researcher uses a type of sociological legal research or empirical law and the researcher does this in "observation research" by means of a survey, namely by going to the field to obtain information, while the nature of this research is analytical descriptive, namely the researcher provides an overview and analyzes a complete statement. , detailed and clear in this research and in this research the author uses a sample with the main data used in this research being primary data using data collection tools in this research using interview and questionnaire methods and secondary data only as supporting data. This research uses an inductive conclusion drawing method. Based on the results of the research and discussion, the researchers found: First, Based on the results of the research and discussion, the researchers found: First, there are several factors that cause motorbike theft in the jurisdiction of the Indragiri Hulu Police, namely educational factors and economic factors. These two factors encourage perpetrators to commit the crime of motorbike theft. Second: Regarding the countermeasures carried out by the Indragiri Hulu Police, there are 3 (three) ways to deal with the criminal act of motorbike theft, namely, Pre-emptive, Preventive and Repressive.
