Exclusive rights themselves are rights that are only intended for the Creator, so that no other party can take advantage of these rights without the Author's permission. This research contains the main problem: What is the legal protection for portraits of photographic works based on Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright in the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Riau Province and what are the obstacles to legal protection for portraits of photographic works based on Law Number 28 of 2014? 2014 Concerning Copyright at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Riau Province This type of research uses a type of sociological legal research by means of a survey, namely direct research with respondents, the nature of this research is descriptive analysis, the data sources are primary data and secondary data. The research location was carried out at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Riau Province, which was used as a population, data collection tools were obtained through observation and interviews. Based on the results of observations obtained by the author, the government has not been optimal in providing copyright legal protection for photographic portraits, namely the government's efforts to carry out outreach programs by providing education regarding copyright, especially in the field of photography, have not been maximized. There are no more specific government regulations. related to photography copyright, and the lack of legal awareness of creators or copyright holders so that legal protection of photographic portrait copyright in Riau Province cannot be separated from the legal understanding and awareness of the various parties involved in it.
