Pencegahan Pembakaran Hutan Dan Lahan Di Kecamatan Kuantan Mudik Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi(studi Kasus Polres Kuantan Singingi)
The burning of forests and land (karhutla) in Kuantan Mudik District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, has become an environmental issue with widespread impacts, both ecologically, health-wise, and economically. This study aims to analyze the factors causing karhutla and the preventive efforts undertaken by the Kuantan Singingi Police. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews with the police, local government, and the community, as well as through document studies on relevant regulations and policies. The results show that karhutla is caused by land clearing through burning, weak supervision, and a lack of public awareness of its impacts. Prevention efforts include routine patrols, public awareness campaigns, including the installation of warning banners, and law enforcement against illegal burning perpetrators. However, these efforts still face challenges, particularly in terms of personnel and budget constraints. Therefore, further coordination between stakeholders and the utilization of satellite-based fire hotspot monitoring technology are needed to enhance the effectiveness of fire prevention and mitigation.
