Indragiri Hulu Regency still has a fairly high number of dropouts in carrying out basic education, so serious handling is needed from the authorities. For this reason, the researcher set the research objectives, namely: To determine the Role of the Education Office in Overcoming School Dropouts in Peranap District. To analyze the inhibiting factors of the Role of the Education Office in Overcoming School Dropouts in Peranap District. This type of research is descriptive with qualitative methods. Direct data sources were obtained from key informants, namely the Head of the Elementary Education Development Division. Then the informants consisted of the Head of the Regional Coordination of the Education and Culture Office of Peranap District, the Principal of Peranap Elementary School, the Principal of Peranap Junior High School, the Principal of Peranap Senior High School, and parents of dropouts. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study found that the Education and Culture Office of Indragiri Hulu Regency in overcoming school dropouts in Peranap District has not played a good role, so that every year, especially in 2023, there are still children dropping out of school at the elementary and secondary school levels. Factors that inhibit the role of the Education and Culture Office of Indragiri Hulu Regency in handling school dropouts are family economic problems, the influence of the environment where children play, and the distance between the child's residence and school, especially children who live on people's plantations that are far from other community settlements.
