A Study On Choral Reading Strategy Applied By An English Teacher At Sma Negeri 1 Bunut
Reading is a very important activity in life that can increase one's knowledge. Reading skills are the most important tool that determines academic success. Therefore, reading must use strategies that can help students increase reading interest. At SMA Negeri 1 Bunut, the teacher uses the Choral Reading Strategy as a support to increase students' reading interest. Researchers are interested in analyzing how the implementation of choral reading strategies in reading. The purpose of the study was to find out how English teacher implemented choral reading strategies in teaching reading at SMA Negeri 1 Bunut. This study uses a qualitative descriptive technique which is considered the right approach in conducting research. The population in this study was an English teacher and 105 students at SMA Negeri 1 Bunut, while the sample was selected using a simple random sampling technique consisting of a teacher and 10 students. The data in this study were collected using observation and interviews. The results of this study are presented in the form of descriptive explanations to show that how the implementation of the choral reading strategy is applied by the teacher in reading lessons. These results can be seen from the observations and interviews that have been conducted. The results of the observations showed that the implementation of the choral reading strategy had been implemented in accordance with the learning procedures, while the results of the interviews showed that the use of the choral reading strategy could help students understand the reading text.
