AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ ANXIETY IN SPEAKING ENGLISH AT ANUBAN THAPAE PATTANA IN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL THAILAND
This research aimed to find students’ anxiety in speaking English at Anuban Thapae Pattana in Senior High School Thailand. The focused of this research was to analyzed students’ types and levels in anxiety in speaking English. Likert scale was used to measure the results of this research. The methodology of this research was quantitative descriptive, with simple random sampling technique was used to achieve the sample of this research. There were 41 students who participated in this research. For this research, the researcher adapted a questionnaire from Horwits, E.k., Horwits, M.B., & Cope, J. (1986). Numerous researchers have utilized and validated this open-ended questionnaire. The researcher used the 33 questions in the FLCAS to determine the level and type of the anxiety of senior high school students, ranging from 1 to 4 points for each topic. The four points consist of Strongly Agree (SA), Agree (A), Disagree (D), and Strongly Disagree (SD). Based on the result of the students responded, the researcher found that, most of the high school students at Anuban Thapae Pattana were classified as "mildly anxious”. Out of 41 students, with 19 students in total. Followed by 18 of 41 students who were at the "Relaxed" level. Then, only 4 student was at the highest level in the research’ results, which was "Anxious” level. It can be concluded that this research aimed to identify the types and levels of students' anxiety in speaking English at Anuban Thapae Pattana Senior High School, Thailand. The researcher used a quantitative descriptive method with a simple random sampling technique, a total of 41 students participated. Data were collected through the FLCAS questionnaire using a Likert scale. The results showed that most students were classified as "mildly anxious," followed by those at the "relaxed" and laslty there was students was at the "anxious" level.
