Yuni Safarinda - Personal Name; Ficha Melina - Personal Name;

Unemployment in Indonesia continued to increase each year. This was due to the limited job opportunities and the increasingly intense competition in the job market. Entrepreneurship was considered a solution to this problem because it would reduce the unemployment rate and create more job opportunities. The efforts made by the university included offering entrepreneurship courses in the Sharia Economics program within the Islamic Studies Faculty. This was proven by the emergence of young entrepreneurs from the Sharia Economics alumni of Islamic Studies Faculty at Islamic University of Riau. Entrepreneurship required motivation with the aim of fostering and encouraging the desire to advance in developing creative ideas to create something that could generate and sell products or goods. The objective of this research was to identify the factors that motivated the Sharia Economics alumni of Islamic Studies Faculty to engage in entrepreneurship. The subjects of this research were the Sharia Economics alumni of Islamic Studies Faculty at Islamic University of Riau who owned businesses, while the object of the research was the motivation of these alumni in entrepreneurship. The data sources used in this research were both primary and secondary sources. The data collection techniques employed were observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the interview results, the author concluded that the interest in entrepreneurship was influenced by various complex and interrelated factors. However, all respondents agreed that the strongest factor driving them to engage in entrepreneurship was the physiological need to seek financial stability, the desire for independence, and the enjoyment or hobby of entrepreneurship.
