The research area is located at coordinates 0 14'56.40" LU -0 12'14.52" LS and 100 31'4.80" BT-100 3346,68" BT. Administratively the research area belongs to Nagari Muaro Paiti, Kapur IX District, Lima Puluh Kota Ragency, West Sumatra Province The purpose of this research is to model the facies distribution and depositional environment on the Sihapas formation, as well as to find out how the potential of the petroleum system is based depositional facies approach in the Sihapas formation. The method used is mapping surface geology and laboratory analysis Based on the results of facies analysis and The depositional environment in the study area is composed of 6 types of lithofacies namely Very Coarse Sandstone Litofacies (vcsSgb), Coarse Sandstone Litofacies (vsSm) Medium Sandstone Lithofacies (msSm). Fine Sandstone Lithofacies (fsSm), lithofacies Claystone Lenticular Bedding (FI), and Laminated Claystone Lithofacies (sh) The facies association grouping consists of 2 facies associations, namely distributary mouth bar and prodelta which shows the depositional environment of the delta front prodelta. The geological potential of the Sihapas Formation which is the dominant sandstone has porosity good value is around 9.16 to 23.9% and the maximum permeability is 0.85-618 mD, then This formation has the potential to become the main reservoir in the Central Sumatra Basin.
