Sipungguk Village is one of the villages in Salo District, Kampar Regency, which has tourism potential. The problem that occurs in the Wave River is that there is a lot of garbage that is disposed of carelessly, many buildings have been erected on the banks of the river, such as gazebos/huts, community selling stalls, parking. This is not in line with the designation of river banks as buffer function areas between river and land ecosystems in accordance with Gov. Regulation No. 38 of 2011. This study aims to formulate directions for the development of the wave river using the concept of ecotourism as a river conservation effort. Data collection in this study used satellite imagery data, primary data, field observations and documentation. The method used is descriptive quantitative qualitative (Mix Method). The goals to be achieved are (a) Identifying the riparian conditions of the wave river (time series 2018-2022) using Overlay analysis, (b) Identifying the attractiveness of the wave river area using the 5W concept (What to see, What to do, What to buy, What to arrive, What to Stay) (c) Formulate directions for the development of a wave river using the concept of ecotourism as a river conservation effort with the IFAS-EFAS analysis technique and using the 7 principles of ecotourism (Damanik and Weber, 2006). The results show that the condition of the wave river bank (time series 2018-2022) has experienced significant changes in land cover. In terms of the attractiveness of the area, there are still things that have not been fulfilled. The results of the IFAS-EFAS analysis obtained 8 development directions, namely (a) Improving, protecting rivers, river beauty and river cleanliness (b) Increasing public awareness in the development of wave rivers (c) Conducting socialization of the importance of maintaining the main function of rivers (d) Increasing understanding and community insights so as not to be influenced by external culture and preparedness for dealing with disasters (e) Make a policy for the development of the wave river as a river conservation effort (f) Carry out construction of facilities and infrastructure that have not been fulfilled (g) Increase the potential and strength factors possessed by the wave river as a competitive advantage tourism (h) Increasing cooperation between village administrations, regions and communities in the development of wave rivers. And alternative development directions are complemented by 7 ecotourism principles as a complement to the results of the IFAS-EFAS analysis.
