An Analysis Of Antonion Starategies on Students' Writing Ability In Writing ESSY In Universitas Islam Riau
The objective of the research is to know about what annotation strategy that students’ used in writing essay and to know the dominant strategies that students’ used in writing essay to increased their writing ability. This research used qualitative design or descriptive research. Moreover, descriptive research is used as the type of the data. The population of this study was sixth semester students of English Education at Universitas Islam Riau and the samples were selected through cluster sampling technique that consist of 50 Students. The data were collected from a questionnaire by Google form and focus group discussion through Google meet or Zoom. From the results, 16 students used marking the text as their strategy in writing essay, 17 students used highlighting the text as their strategy in writing essay, 15 students used writing on the margin as their strategy in writing essay, and 7 students used sticky note as their strategy in writing essay. Then, the dominant strategy that students used in annotation strategy was highlighting the text (30.9%), which is students highlight the important sentence for students.
