An Analysis of Students' Anxiety In Speaking English Of The Second Grade Students AT SMA PGRI pekanbaru
Anxiety can have significant effects in English as a foreign language because when they are asked to use English or express their thoughts in front of friends or teachers. Based on teaching practice in SMA PGRI Pekanbaru, so many students experience anxiety in using English. Therefore, this research aims to find out the level of students' speaking anxiety This research used descriptive quantitative. The researchers collected the data for this study using quantitative data, and after explaining the findings of the data in descriptive form, descriptive quantitative was employed.The population of this study was second grade students at SMA PGRI Pekanbaru, and the sample was 35 students. The data were collected from made questionnaire. According to the questionnaire result, the majority of the students categorized as “Anxious” level of speaking anxiety. There were 4 students (11,42%) in Very Anxious, 15 students (42,85%) in Anxious, then 13 students (37,14%) in Mildly Anxious. Next, there were 2 students (5,71%) who Relaxed; last, none had Very Relaxed. The result of type-based FLCAS grouping, it found that "Communication Apprehension" is the main factor that causes students to feel anxious about 21 (60%) students, the number of statements is 9 ( I start to panic when I have to speak without preparation in language class) by which "agree." After that, fear of negative evaluation factor became the second factor with 16 (48,57%) students, and then the last factor was test anxiety with 15 (42,85%) students.
