An Analysis Of Slang Word Comments On Celebrity Instagram

The research aims to find out the types of English slang that used by Instagram users in the comment. Slang is a non-standard language that usually used by young people for communication in their group which makes the conversation look closer. The descriptive qualitative method was used in this study because the data of this research was collected from Instagram users and the sample is from 20 Instagram accounts. The research was taking the documentation by screenshot the slang that found on Instagram comments. The results of the study were to determine the function and types of slang words. There are several posts on Instagram that consists of several comments by the Instagram users who used slang. The findings of this study showed that there were five types of English slang words in data collection, such as: fresh and creative, flippant, imitative, acronym, and clipping. The result showed that fresh and creatives were the most frequently used type of slang.
