Aplikasi Forum Tanya Jawab Mahasiswa dan Tentang Materi Perkuliahan Menggunakan Bahasa Pemprograman Kotlin
According to the International Data Center, the usage of smartphones worldwide with the Android operating system has a market share of 85%. The programming language commonly used in Android application development is Java. At the Google I/O 2017, Google added Kotlin to the official lineup of languages for Android application development. Furthermore, at the Google I/O 2019 event, Google announced Kotlin First, where Kotlin was designated as the number one programming language for developing Android-based applications. Question and answer activities in the lecture material of the Informatics Engineering (IE) program at the Islamic University of Riau (UIR) are commonly conducted during face-to-face sessions or through Google Classroom and WhatsApp. This limits the scope of question and answer activities only to lecturers and class members. Additionally, discussions conducted via WhatsApp with lecturers lead to message accumulation towards the lecturers. In this research, the author addresses the research problem of "How to create an application for student and lecturer discussions on lecture material." The objective of this research is to "Provide a question and answer media with a wide scope and minimize the accumulation of messages and repeated questions to lecturers." The development method of this application uses the Waterfall method. The User Acceptance Test (UAT) results using the Likert scale obtained a score of 91.37% and achieved a "Very Good" result, indicating that this student and lecturer question and answer forum application can be implemented.
