Students’ Perspective In Using Youtube Video As A Learning Media In Teaching Listening Skill On The Fourth-Semester Students Of English Language Education Study Program Of Universitas Islam Riau

Listening skill Listening is a core subject in the English language study program. But, Learning to listen by using audio has a monotonous and boring subject as for its repetitive activities. Therefore the teacher must facilitate the students with interesting methods and media in teaching listening. The application of video especially from a huge platform like YouTube as a learning media since it has audio and visual effects Simultaneously can be an alternative to encourage the students in Listening skills. The purpose of this study is to analyze students’ perspective on using YouTube video and their contribution to their listening process. This research used qualitative descriptive. The participants of this research are all fourth-semester Students Of the English Language Education Study Program of Universitas Islam Riau consist of 54 students. The data were collected by using Questionnaire in google form which consist of 6 indicators and interview through whatsapp. The indicators adopted by TAM ( Technology Acceptance Model) that four original constructs included Perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, Attitude Toward and Behavioural Intention from (Davis, 1989) and two more constructed including system characteristics and material characteristics from Huang and lin ( 2011) in (Chen hsieh,2017) The findings indicated that the fourth-semester students of the English Language Education study program of Universitas Islam have a positive perspective on using YouTube video as learning media in teaching listening skills. It showed that They believe Using YouTube video makes learning listening more effective and efficient since it has audio and visual effects Simultaneously. Students also believe that YouTube video positively contributes to their listening skills such as students felt that they could enhance their listening ability, increase vocabulary, know how to pronounce and accent, and motivate them to get involved in class activities
