The Efect Of Thinking Pair Shere (TPS) Method On Students Lestening Skill Using Plotagon Based Application At SMAN 4 Pekanbaru
In teaching English, there are various teaching techniques that can be used. The TPS method using the Plotagon application is a cooperative learning method assisted by Plotagon audiovisual media to help students learn English. The purpose of this research is to find out the significant effect of the TPS method using Plotagon based application on students’ final assessment (listening and speaking skills) at twelfth grade SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. This study used experimental research as the research methodology. The sample for this research was XII IPS 4 with 30 students as the experimental class and XII IPS 1 with 31 students as the control class at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. The instrument used in this research was a listening and speaking test, which consisted of a pre-test and a post-test. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.00 program. The results of this study show that there is a significant influence on the use of the TPS method and plotagon media in the pre-test and post-test on the listening and speaking abilities of twelfth grade students at SMAN 4 Pekanbaru. The average post-test score on listening skills was 76.17, higher than the pre-test score of 51.83. The average post-test score for speaking skills was 69.97, higher than the pre-test score of 57.70. From the results of the program’s statistical calculations, the researcher obtained the t-obs ? t-table (15.349 ? 2.052) for listening ability. Similarly for speaking ability, where t-obs ? t-table (7.395 ? 2.052). This effect increases the number of students with listening skills who reach the KKM by 43.33% (10.00% to 53.33%) in the excellent category. In the same way, there was an increase in speaking skill of 16.67% (13.33% to 30.00%) of 30 students in the excellent category.
