Pengaruh Pemanfaatan Perpustakaan terhadap Minat Membaca Siswa Kelas XII di SMK Negeri 3 Dumai

This study aims to find out whether there is an influence of library utilization on students’ reading interest. The method of the study is quantitative with a correlational approach. The subject of the study is all students in grade XII at SMKN 3 Dumai and the object of the study is the influence of library utilization on students’ reading interest. The population of the study consists of 175 students in grade XII with a sample of 122 students. The data collection techniques of the study are questionnaires and documentation. The data are analyzed by using a simple linear regression technique. Based on the results of the data analysis, it is found that there is an influence of library utilization on students’ reading interest. The results of simple linear regression is 0.000, because the results of hypothesis testing show that the significant value is less than 0.05, it means that there is an influence of library utilization on students’ reading interest in grade XII at SMKN 3 Dumai. The magnitude of the influence of library utilization on students’ reading interest is 0.469 or 46.9%, while the remaining 53.1% is influenced by other factors. Meanwhile, the level of relationship between the library utilization and the reading interest is 0.685 or 68.5%, it means that there is a moderate relationship between the library utilization and the students’ reading interest at SMKN 3 Dumai. Thus the alternative hypothesis is accepted, the level of relationship between the library utilization and the students’ reading interest in grade XIII at SMKN 3 Dumai is in the medium category.
