Upaya Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam Membentuk Karakter Religius Peserta Didik di SMA Negeri 2 Siak Hulu, Kabupaten Kampar
This study is motivated by the problems of students’ religious characters at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu of Kampar Regency. It can be seen from the poor religious characters of students with the signs that: 1) There are still many students who do not pray Zuhr, Asr and Friday prayers in congregation 2) There are still some students who do not take part in religious activities 3) There are still some students who play or joke when doing religious activities. The study aims to investigate the efforts of Islamic Studies teachers in building students’ religious characters at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu of Kampar Regency. This is a qualitative study with an interview method. Based on the results of the study on the efforts of Islamic Studies teachers in buiding students’ religious characters at SMAN 2 Siak Hulu of Kampar Regency, the efforts made are: 1) Providing an understanding of beliefs/creeds/faith in Allah, angels, books, prophets and apostles, the last day, and qada and qadar 2) Providing an understanding of the science of sharia or worship as well as procedures for carrying out the pillars of Islam and implementing Zuhr, Asr and Friday prayers in congregation 3) Asking questions about prayer and the science of punishment for people who do not pray and neglect to pray 4) Providing an understanding of the good and bad morals of human beings 5) Providing an attitude of religious tolerance 6) Inviting students not to socialize carelessly because it can damage their faith 7) Starting learning by praying and practicing prayer 8) The teacher must go to the mosque and invite the students to perform prayers 9) Prioritizing greetings and shaking hands when meeting teachers and greeting them. 10) Inviting students to do muraja'ah together before learning begins.
