Students Perception Of the Strategy Used By Third Semester Students in Debate at English Education study Program Universitas Islam Riau
The objective of this research is to identify students perception of the strategies the students employed and to analyze the dominant strategy that they used in debate on Speaking for Profesional Context subject. This subject is offered at English Languange Education Department at Universitas Islam Riau in the third semester. Researcher collected the data by giving a questionnaire for the sample in the classroom. The method used by the researcher in this study is qualitative method in descriptive analysis. It was arranged as the following procedures : collecting data from the third semester students, analyzing the data, describe the data interpret the data and conclude the data. The technique for analyze the data the researcher used qualitative research method. The result of data showed that the third semester students’ at English Languange Study Program FKIP UIR have knowing and apply the debate strategy. Cognitive strategy are the dominant strategy that used by the Third Semester Students’ at English Language Education Study Program Universitas Islam Riau with cumulative total score 1577. The data shown that to practice their pronounciation usually they watch movies or video without subtittle with the percentage 56.7%.
