In infrastructure development, aggregate materials are often named after the region from which they are extracted. However, the use of regional names does not accurately reflect the quality of the materials. Consequently, materials sourced from the same area but from different quarries can vary significantly in quality. Therefore, this study distinguishes aggregate materials based on their geological stone type, specifically andesite stone and sandstone. The research aims to compare the optimum asphalt content of andesite stone with sandstone, enabling the determination of the Marshall characteristic values of asphalt concrete for andesite stone versus sandstone materials. The research method used in this study is an experimental approach through Marshall testing. The study was conducted in a laboratory setting, with asphalt content variations tested at 4.0%, 4.5%, and 5.0% for AC-Base type asphalt concrete. Three samples were prepared for each asphalt content variation and type of aggregate stone material. Additionally, three samples were created for each type of aggregate stone material to determine the optimum asphalt content. The research results indicate that the optimum asphalt content (OAC) for andesite stone is 4.33%, with a VMA value of 13.065%, a VIM value of 4.410%, a VFA value of 66.252%, a stability value of 2936.070 kg, a flow value of 4.400 mm, and an MQ value of 670.184 kg/mm. In contrast, the optimum asphalt content (OAC) for sandstone is 4.89%, with a VMA value of 13.591%, a VIM value of 4.734%, a VFA value of 65.255%, a stability value of 3051.210 kg, a flow value of 4.067 mm, and an MQ value of 751.289 kg/mm. From these tests, it can be concluded that the Marshall characteristic values for sandstone tend to be higher than those for andesite stone.
