he Relationship between the Leadership Role of Farmer Contacts and the Effectiveness of Mekar Sari Rice Paddy Farmer Groups in Mukti Jaya Village, Rimba Melintang District, Rokan Hilir Regency. Under the guidance of Mrs. Ir. Septina Elida, M.Si As a Supervising Lecturer. Farmer groups are a forum for farmers to gain knowledge, one farmer will not be enough to solve all the natural resources in the village, therefore a group is formed. The research objectives were to analyze: 1) Farmer characteristics, farmer contacts, farmer group profiles and business profiles of the Mekar Sari group, 2) The leadership role of farmer contacts and the effectiveness of Mekar Sari farmer groups, 3) The relationship between the leadership roles of farmer contacts and the effectiveness of Mekar Sari farmer groups. This research was conducted in Mukti Jaya Village, Rimba Melintang District, Rokan Hilir Regency. The sample selection was carried out using a census technique and obtained as many as 34 farmer group members and 1 farmer contact person. Data collection was carried out by conducting direct interviews using questionnaires and secondary data. The data analysis technique used in this study uses Spearman's rank correlation analysis. The results showed that the members of the farmer group were of productive age, with an average age of 35.6 years. Dominated by men, that is, 100 percent. The average farming experience is 10.5 years, with an average formal education of high school graduation with an average number of family dependents of 3 people. The contact farmer is of productive age, aged 38 years, with 13 years of farming experience, with formal education having graduated from a bachelor's degree and a family of 4 dependents. Farmer Group Profile, Production inputs are sufficiently available through production facilities stalls, farmer group cooperative cooperatives and imported from outside the region. Agribusiness commodities that are cultivated include: food crops, vegetables, fruits, medicinal plants and ornamental plants. The level of application of farming technology is relatively good, which includes: the use of superior seeds, fertilization, pest control, maintenance and harvest and post-harvest. Marketing of agricultural products has not yet been carried out through groups or cooperatives. Marketing channels include: (1) direct farmers to consumers, (2) farmers to collectors to retailers and consumers and (3) farmers to retailers to consumers. Farmer contact is considered good in almost all aspects, especially in the aspect of determining the structure of the group and the aspect of developing members' feelings of pride and happiness with an average answer of 4.21 with very good criteria. The effectiveness of farmer groups as a whole has a good level, especially in the aspect of increasing membership insight which has an average of 4.50 with very good criteria. Based on the Spearman correlation test, the relationship between the leadership role of farmer contacts and the effectiveness of farmer groups has a significant relationship at the ten percent test level with the effectiveness of farmer groups. That is, the leadership role of farmer contacts determines the effectiveness of the group. The better the role shown by the farmer contact, the more effective the group.
