Peran Orang Tua dalam Pembentukan Kepribadian Anak di Dusun Simpang Pulai Kecamatan Ukui Kabupaten Pelalawan

The study aimed to find out the role of parents in developing children’s personalities in Simpang Pulai Village, Ukui District, Pelalawan Regency. A person’s personality is defined as a unique trait, characteristic, style, or manner that comes from formations accepted in the surrounding environment, such as the family when the children were youger. Parental roles relate to how parents or families carry out their responsibilities to care for, educate, protect and prepare children for community life. This was a qualitative study with a case study approach. The informants of the study were children, parents and teachers. The data collection techniques of the study were observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study showed that: (1) The role of parents as caregivers, namely ensuring that children were healthy and providing advice and infrastructure to support the development of the children’s character and personality, (2) The role of parents as protectors, namely providing a sense of security and comfort from a psychological, mental and physical perspective, (3) The role of parents as guides in developing the children’s personalities and the parents provided guidance to children on an ongoing basis, and (4) The role of parents as teachers: the parents provided good examples for children and educate their children to be virtuous.
